Brickies loam, as the name implies, is the preferred sand of professional bricklayers all over. What’s good enough for the experts is good enough for all you keen gardeners, landscapers, and DIY project fans out there.
Also known as brick sand, brickie’s sand, and fatty sand, it has a clay component of up to 30% per weight and that is what makes it sticky. When you blend brickies loam with cement and lime, it creates mortar. The resulting blend is called “fatty” mix. This means it’s perfect to use for laying bricks because the material is easily compressible and also oozes nicely out of the joins.
Brickies Loam is a major component of block and brick laying mortar for walls and retaining walls.
